Screen Connectivity & Remote Access

No! Once the app is downloaded and installed on your Android TV and smartphone, no internet connection is required. Loco communicates strictly via your local router subnet. Media is transferred directly from your phone to the TV screen over local packets, meaning your displays remain 100% active even during external internet service provider (ISP) outages.

When you open the Loco Signage Player on your Android TV, a pairing QR code will display on the screen. Open the Loco controller app on your phone and scan the QR code to pair remotely via cloud. For offline environments, you can also pair using local WiFi by entering the IP address shown on the TV screen.

Because Loco is designed for maximum local speed and complete firewall isolation, it requires your controller and TV to be on the same local area network (LAN). To manage screens from home, you can easily connect to your store's network using a standard VPN connection, allowing you to cast adjustments securely as if you were standing in the store.

Android TV Hardware & Compatibility

Any smart TV or media box running Android TV OS 8.0 or higher is fully compatible. This includes brands like Sony, TCL, Hisense, Xiaomi Mi Box, Nvidia Shield, and Google TV devices. You can also run it on non-smart TVs by plugging in an inexpensive Amazon Fire TV Stick or Google Chromecast dongle.

No! Unlike other platforms that require expensive proprietary external media boxes or dedicated hardware players, Loco is hardware-agnostic. You can download and install our player app directly on standard smart TVs or streaming sticks, saving hundreds of dollars in external player costs.

Playlists & Real-Time Content Scheduling

Loco supports high-resolution images (JPG, PNG, WebP), video files (MP4 format up to 4K resolution), multi-page PDF documents (ideal for detailed lists and layout sheets), and responsive HTML5 web pages/URLs (for local analytical dashboards).

The Loco Signage Player app has an "Auto-Start on Boot" preference. If the power supply drops, once the TV turns back on, the app automatically boots into full-screen mode and continues running your scheduled playlist loop instantly, without requiring manual remote action.
